So at about 10 PM last night it was decided that we were going to watch Daredevil on Netflix. Three minutes in I was hooked, and three hours later I needed to cut myself off before overdosing on badassery. I am telling you now you don’t need to read the rest of this, just go watch it. But for those who stick around, or are still dubious about what I am spraying, I will go over a little bit of it.
The show starts with a small dose of backstory, right off the back we are shown the accident that afflicts the young Matt Murdock. They hand you the back story in small doses which is very well timed and executed. Each episode brings you further and further into seeing how Daredevil came to be without slowing the pace. The interaction between characters is good and doesn’t seem forced just so you don’t feel as though you are just watching an hour long fight scene(did I mention those are great yet?). Charlie Cox as Matt/Daredevil does an amazing job. Matt Murdock’s legal partner Foggy Nelson played by Elden Henson is a great compliment to him. I won’t ruin anything about other regular characters so I will leave it at that.
Before the shows credits even role Daredevil is running around beating the shit out of people and it’s glorious. The camera work is stupendous. I can’t yammer on enough about how cool the fight scenes are and how much time and effort must have been put into them. Even the nameless bad guys are badasses, which is super rare. I like to see my protagonist go through some shit and come out on top. Daredevil gets shit done, when I mean done, watch episode 2, you will know what I mean. They show just how determined Daredevil is. He is willing to get his hands dirty as hell and will make sure that people who oppose him get a serious dose of STREET JUSTICE!

So if you haven’t been listening to the podcast, we here at Schwartz and Merc have been joining in on the fun of a little game called Jugger. We have had so much fun we would like to tell everyone we know about it. I myself was not aware of this game until a couple of months ago. As I am terrible at trying to tell you what this is I will provide a link that you can read up on it.

This group of people and their leader Taylor are very accepting and inviting. They have shown me the ropes and tricks for said ropes. Playing the sport itself is the most activity I have ever done. It feels like HIIT (high intensity interval training) disguised as a fun game. Kendo might be a good form of training to have before going in, but it doesn’t mean you will be invincible. These people seem to have great respect for each other in and out of the game. It’s good to see this kind of team playing and hard work.
My two friends picked up the game quick when I brought them. There was some confusion at first, but they adapted and figured out which pompfen (weapons) worked well with their set of skills. My particular set of skills so far have been getting pummeled until the other team gets tired, then I get pummeled some more.
Today a demonstration will be done during the half time period in a roller derby bout downtown at 5031 East Washington Street Phoenix, Az 85034. I would encourage you to come to see all of the fun everyone is having with this sport. Also roller derby which is great to watch.
